Big Cheese’s Big Brother has its first winner!

On 3^rd December, Bryce Ryer stepped up to take on the Big Brother challenge to a cheering crowd of friends and onlookers.

Although Bryce did manage to finish the mammoth burger; equivalent to 4 normal burgers, topped off with bacon, mushrooms, cheese, fries and dips, weighing in at just over 2kg, there were a few moments when it looked like The Big Brother would claim its next victim.

After the event Bryce said “I really enjoyed the burger, but won’t be having another one just yet”.

If you think you’re man enough to take up the challenge, what are you waiting for, Big Brother’s waiting. If you manage to eat everything by yourself, you’ll get your meal for free and earn your place on the wall of fame.

The current score stands at Big Brother 6 – Challengers 1.

Paul Holderness was the first person to step up and attempt our Big Cheese’s Big Brother Challenge on Thursday 1st December, but despite a valiant effort, he was beaten by the mighty burger.

Cream of roast celeriac & apple soup finished with crispy leeks

Terrine of smoked mackerel with cabernet sauvignon tapenade relish

Bubble & squeak with crisped smoked bacon, poached free range egg and hollandaise sauce

Smoked salmon with horseradish cream, caper berries & shallots

Traditional roast turkey with pigs in blankets and homemade stuffing

Pressed pork belly with butternut squash puree and thyme scented volute

Grilled whole lemon sole with lemon grass and black pepper butter

The Great French Stick Relay Race

On Friday 13^th May, Cheese & Alfies will be hosting this fun event. Teams of four will be racing around Christchurch town centre in a classic relay race, where the traditional baton is replaced by the classic French stick! The winning team will win dinner at Cheese & Alfies. Team entries to be submitted to Cheese & Alfies by no later than Monday 2 May 2011
